| Major F.P.Hopkins 'Shortspoon' or 'Major S' as he often signed his pictures, was one of the first artists to record the great and formative years of golf in the 1870s and 1880s and his images, in both oil and watercolour, are highly evocative of the period. His impact was considerable for one who had no formal art training and discovered golf late in life when he moved to the West Country. |
